Waking Sleeping Beauty is about the renaissance of the Disney animated musical and it’s out on DVD now. The absolutely best part, as far as I’m concerned, is the Bonus package. There's a great clip from a lecture Howard did for the Disney animators about writing songs for film. An even shorter clip opens the trailer. And there’s footage of the wonderful Jodi Benson (with Howard whispering in her ear) recording Part Of Your World.
It’s always hard to see Howard on film and remember all that we’ve lost, but the lecture and watching him direct Jodi offer a rare chance to see Howard in his element.
